In Anchor Panic, choosing the right characters can make or break your gaming experience. The difference between clearing challenging content effortlessly and struggling through basic missions often comes down to having the right operators on your team. This tier list is compiled from extensive gameplay experience, community consensus from the official Discord, and analysis of the latest balance changes to ensure you’re getting the most accurate and up-to-date information available.
| Tier | Characters | Key Strengths |
|---|---|---|
| SS Tier | Karanissa, Tern, Echo, Lilira | Game-breaking potential, meta-defining |
| S Tier | Olivia, Alice, Flicker, Centaurea, Ling, Merlot, Dione | Extremely strong, core team members |
| A Tier | Lengjiao, Deling, Lycosha, Grenache, Dawn, Kymia, Raven, Newcastle, Yan, Antelope | Solid performers, good investment |
| B Tier | Diamond, Streyne, Marceline, Mustang, Abyssal, Sparkle-Wing, Neon, Firefly, Prism, Yuanya, Lionblade | Decent but replaceable |
| C Tier | Alicia, Trigger, Corrosicat, Snow Fox, Arc, Koraz, Artisan, Catalpa, Core | Weak, avoid if possible |
Karanissa is hands down the strongest character in Anchor Panic right now. She’s a Lightning Striker who can absolutely delete enemies with her incredible damage output. Her best trick is chaining kills – when she kills someone, she immediately attacks another target. This makes her absolutely devastating in both single-target and AoE situations.
When you stack her with other Lightning characters, her damage goes through the roof. You should definitely try to get her, even if it takes a while. The game gives you plenty of free summons at the start, so you can actually pity her banner twice or even three times without spending money.
Best Build: Focus on ATK% and CRIT DMG sigils. Her 3-Star Ascension bonus is crucial as it removes the DMG decrease when she recasts her Energy Burst.
Tern is the best buffer/support operator in the game, especially for Quantum teams. She’s capable of increasing allies’ offensive stats and granting them extra DMG on their skills. What makes her particularly valuable is that she requires no Ascensions to be extremely useful, making her perfect for both new and experienced players.
Her Sigil is important to get, as it further buffs her passive DMG increase. Tern is the only real reroll option from the non-limited characters, as she’s a best-in-slot support for many teams and the only SSR that doesn’t have an appropriate SR to replace it.
Best Build: Support-focused sigils that enhance buffing capabilities. Her 4-Set and 2-Set models work perfectly together.
Echo is one of the best supports in Anchor Panic, buffing the DMG of allies and healing them at the same time. She also has an AoE attack that can Silence enemies, which is incredibly powerful for controlling the battlefield. She works perfectly with Karanissa, creating crazy synergy that can carry you through most content.
Her only downside is that some of her best passives are locked behind 3-Star and 6-Star Ascensions, but even without these, she’s still an S-tier character. Having both Echo and Karanissa on your team creates one of the strongest combinations in the game.
Best Build: Hybrid support/healer build with emphasis on HP and DEF for survivability, plus some ATK for damage output.
Lilira is the top healer you can get in Anchor Panic. She’s a Quantum element that provides shields and heals your whole team. She can also revive an ally once per battle with her 3/6-Star Ascension bonuses, making her invaluable for difficult content.
She does fall off in very late-game content, but by then, you’ll have other options. For most players, she’ll be your primary healer throughout the game. She’s especially strong on full Quantum teams where her shields and heals become even more effective.
Best Build: Pure healer/support build with HP, DEF, and Healing Effectiveness sigils.
Here’s some great news – you get to pick Alice for free from the starter banner. She’s the best choice because she’s a Lightning element, which means she fits perfectly with Karanissa and Echo. The other free options (Merlot and Dawn) are good too, but Alice is way easier to build teams around.
Alice is a really strong DPS/buffer for both Fire and mixed teams. She has extremely good AoE damage and DPS buffs for allies. With her 6-Star Ascension and Sigil equipped, her offensive stats get even more absurd. Her biggest downside is that without enough investment, she can’t compete with the upcoming DPSs.
Best Build: ATK-focused with CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. Her Lightning synergy makes her perfect for Lightning teams.
Olivia is currently running on the banner, and she’s solid. She’s a really strong DPS/buffer for both Fire and mixed teams. She has extremely good AoE damage and DPS buffs for allies. Also, with her 6-Star Ascension and Sigil equipped, her offensive stats get even more absurd.
However, honestly, go for Karanissa first since they cost the same amount to pull for. Olivia is great, but she doesn’t quite reach the game-breaking potential of the SS-tier characters.
Best Build: Fire-focused build with ATK% and Elemental Damage bonuses.
Centaurea might be an SR character, but don’t sleep on her. She’s one of the best healers for free-to-play players until you get Lilira. Since she’s SR rarity, you’ll get tons of copies of her, making her really easy to upgrade. She heals a lot and can cleanse debuffs, which is super important throughout the game.
Best Build: Pure healer build. Since she’s SR, focus on upgrading her through duplicates rather than rare materials.
Ling is perfect for Lightning teams because she reduces Lightning resistance on enemies. Pair her with Karanissa, Echo, and Alice for an unstoppable Lightning squad. She’s a core buffer/debuffer/DPS for Lightning teams, and even works on mixed teams if you have her on 6-Stars.
She applies Lightning Mark, reducing enemy Lightning RES (and buffing ally CRIT Rate against them if you have the 3/6-Star Ascension). Also, her AoE Energy Burst applies Shock, which is incredibly powerful for Lightning DPSs.
Best Build: Support-focused with Elemental RES reduction and team buff capabilities.
Lengjiao is a core member of any Ice team and one of the best CC/DPS operators in the game. She can apply Freeze on all enemies, as well as stack Freezing. She is simply OP for PvP because of her reliable CC. You can use her even at 0 Ascension, as her most important ability is her Energy Burst.
Best Build: CC-focused with Freeze duration and Ice damage enhancement.
Antelope deserves special mention here. She’s an SR Quantum Defender who’s basically the best tank for free-to-play players. She has tons of shielding and blocking, plus she’s easy to upgrade since she’s SR rarity. If you need a tank, she’s your girl.
Best Build: Pure tank build with HP, DEF, and Shield Effectiveness.
Grenache is an amazing support/DPS for both full Fire and mixed squads. She can stack Burn herself, give Lifesteal to allies when attacking enemies inflicted with Burn, as well as buff her own Lifesteal/DPS. She is a solid AoE DPS, support, and also pretty tanky.
Best Build: Hybrid DPS/support build with Lifesteal and Burn effect enhancement.
One exception in B tier is Streyne – she’s a free healer you get at the start. If your team keeps dying and you don’t have Centaurea or Lilira yet, she can help keep you alive. She’s an amazing healer/buffer for both Quantum and mixed teams. She applies both single-target and AoE heals, as well as massive ATK buffs.
However, you’ll need to get her to 3/6-Stars to remove the DEF debuff from her Adrenaline passive. Once you get better healers, she becomes less relevant.
Diamond is a decent Physical DPS who can work well with Rose and other Physical characters. However, she’s quickly outclassed by S-tier and SS-tier options. Only invest in her if you’re building a specific Physical team and don’t have better options.
Characters in C tier are generally weak and should be replaced as soon as possible. They might have niche uses in very specific situations, but for the most part, you’ll want to avoid investing resources in them. This includes characters like Alicia, Trigger, Corrosicat, Snow Fox, Arc, Koraz, Artisan, Catalpa, and Core.
The most important lesson I’ve learned from playing Anchor Panic is that element synergy trumps individual character power. Characters of the same element work way better together due to elemental resonance bonuses and combo potential.
Lightning Teams are currently the strongest in the meta, with Karanissa, Echo, Alice, and Ling forming an unstoppable core. This team provides incredible damage output, healing, support, and elemental resistance reduction.
Some SR characters like Centaurea and Antelope are better than many SSR characters. Plus, they’re easier to upgrade since you get more copies of them. Don’t make the mistake of ignoring SR characters just because they’re not the highest rarity.
You need a good balance of damage dealers, healers, and tanks. Don’t just grab the highest-tier characters if they’re all the same role. A well-balanced team of A-tier characters will often outperform an unbalanced team of S-tier characters.
If you’re starting fresh and willing to reroll, go for Karanissa first. She’s currently the strongest character in the game and will carry you through almost all content. If you get tired of rerolling for her, any of the other SS-tier characters (Tern, Echo, or Lilira) are great starting points.
The good news is that this game is pretty generous with summons, so even if you don’t get the perfect start, you can still build a strong team over time. Focus on the characters you have and make them work well together.
This team has everything you need: incredible damage, healing, support, and elemental synergy. It can clear almost all content in the game with proper investment.
This team uses mostly free and SR characters but can still perform very well in most content.
Karanissa is currently the best character in Anchor Panic. She’s a Lightning Striker with incredible damage output and the ability to chain kills, making her devastating in almost any situation.
Yes, rerolling for Karanissa is highly recommended. If you get tired of rerolling for her, any of the other SS-tier characters (Tern, Echo, or Lilira) are also excellent starting points.
Absolutely! Some SR characters like Centaurea and Antelope are better than many SSR characters, especially for free-to-play players. They’re easier to upgrade and can carry you through most content.
The Lightning team with Karanissa, Echo, Alice, and Ling is currently the strongest composition in the game. It provides perfect elemental synergy and covers all necessary roles.

Focus on getting at least one SS-tier character, build around elemental synergy, and don’t neglect the powerful SR characters. With the right team composition and proper investment, you’ll be able to clear even the most challenging content Anchor Panic has to offer.
