Welcome to the most comprehensive Last Epoch Season 3 tier list you’ll find anywhere! As a dedicated player who’s spent hundreds of hours testing builds across all 15 masteries, I’m excited to share my insights on what’s actually dominating the meta in Beneath Ancient Skies. Whether you’re looking to melt empowered monoliths, one-shot bosses, or just find a build that matches your playstyle, this guide has you covered.
Season 3 brought massive changes with Chapter 10, the Primal Hunt system, and game-changing Primordial Items that have completely reshaped what’s viable. After crafting perfect gear for dozens of characters and testing them extensively, I can confidently say this tier list reflects the current state of the meta.
| Tier | Masteries | Key Strengths |
|---|---|---|
| S | Void Knight, Beastmaster | Unmatched damage, tankiness, clear speed |
| A+ | Paladin, Falconer, Runemaster, Marksman, Lich, Necromancer | Strong performance with minor weaknesses |
| A | Bladedancer, Warlock, Shaman, Sorcerer, Spellblade | Viable but outperformed by S/A+ tiers |
| B | Forge Guard, Druid | Niche builds requiring specific gear |
Before diving into the rankings, let’s understand what makes Season 3 different:
These changes have dramatically shifted the meta, with some builds rising to dominance while others fell behind.
Why S-Tier: Void Knight remains the most versatile mastery in Season 3, offering incredible damage output while being nearly unkillable. The Season 3 mana sustain changes and new crafting options make Void Knight builds even more accessible.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Void Knight benefited from enemy damage normalization, making survivability smoother than ever. The new primordial crafting system gives even more gearing flexibility.
Why S-Tier: Beastmaster clawed its way to the top in Season 3, primarily thanks to the Bear Beastmaster build. The minion survivability buffs and Beastmaster tweaks made this mastery incredibly powerful and safe.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Minion survivability buffs were huge for Beastmaster. The Primal Hunt system thematically fits perfectly with Beastmaster, and new primordial items offer exciting customization options.
Why A+-Tier: Paladin remains incredibly consistent and tanky. Judgment Paladin received significant buffs in Season 3, making it feel like Last Epoch’s version of Righteous Fire.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Judgment’s concentrated aura scales better, and Paladin’s natural tankiness makes it very forgiving for newer players.
Why A+-Tier: While nerfed from S-tier, Falconer remains incredibly strong and easy to play. Ballista Falconer, in particular, shreds packs and provides ridiculous single-target damage.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Falconer was a primary target for nerfs, but Ballista remains strong. Smoke Bomb utility combined with Primal Hunt makes it one of the safest builds.
Why A+-Tier: Runemaster offers incredible versatility with the sheer catalogue of spells available. While complex, it has some of the highest damage potential in the game.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Runemaster buffs to Invocation indirectly help many builds. The complexity holds it back from S-tier, but skilled players can push it very far.
Why A+-Tier: Marksman offers excellent ranged gameplay with strong single-target and AoE options. While Heartseeker was nerfed, other builds remain very strong.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Heartseeker nerfs hurt, but Acid Flask and Hail of Arrows remain reliable choices for ranged players.
Why A+-Tier: Lich is in a much better place in Season 3 with numerous changes improving survivability. Still has risk-vs-reward elements but much more manageable now.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Reworked passives and ward interactions make Lich much tankier. The new Flay skill adds another powerful option.
Why A+-Tier: Minion survivability buffs along with tweaks to Necro passives pushed this mastery higher. Abomination Necromancer, in particular, is now a top-tier build.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Minion AI improvements and survivability buffs were massive for Necromancer. New primordial items offer exciting customization options.
Why A-Tier: Bladedancer offers fast-paced melee combat with good damage output. However, it’s often outperformed by Void Knight in the melee department.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Indirectly helped via primordial items but lacks the raw power of S-tier masteries.
Why A-Tier: Warlock focuses on damage over time effects but has struggled to keep up with the meta. Still viable but requires more specific gear.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Some indirect buffs but still feels weaker compared to other Acolyte options.
Why A-Tier: Shaman has solid elemental damage but was hurt by Tornado nerfs. Still viable with the right setup.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Tornado nerfs hurt, but other builds remain viable. Smoother itemization helps performance.
Why A-Tier: Sorcerer has some of the hardest hitting cold builds in the game but is overshadowed by a few S-tier options.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Minimal changes, still performs well but not at the absolute top.
Why A-Tier: Spellblade offers interesting hybrid melee-caster gameplay but often lacks the specialization of other masteries.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Defensive passive tweaks make survivability smoother while maintaining high damage.
Why B-Tier: Forge Guard received welcome buffs in Season 3 but still struggles compared to other Sentinel options.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Shield Bash buffs make it more viable, but still lacks the power of other masteries.
Why B-Tier: Druid has interesting shapeshifting mechanics but hasn’t found its place in the current meta.
Top Builds:
Season 3 Impact: Shapeshifting got great changes but Swarmblade hasn’t found its place. Needs more specific gear to shine.
The Primal Hunt is a new endgame mechanic similar to the Nemesis system. Here’s how it works:
This system is crucial for endgame progression as it’s the primary way to obtain Primordial Items, which can dramatically boost your build’s power.
Primordial Items are enhanced versions of Unique and Exalted gear that you can equip only one of at a time. They come in two types:
Primordial Uniques:
Primordial Exalted Items:
Several key balance changes significantly impacted the tier list:
Bear Beastmaster is the most beginner-friendly build in Season 3. It’s incredibly tanky, has good clear speed, and the bear companion does most of the work while you learn mechanics. The build is also very forgiving with gear requirements.
Absolutely! Season 3 was a huge buff to minion builds. Both Necromancer and Beastmaster received significant improvements to minion AI and survivability. Abomination Necromancer and Bear Beastmaster are both S-tier contenders.
Extremely important for endgame builds. While you can only equip one, the right Primordial Item can dramatically boost your build’s power. Some builds are practically defined by specific Primordial Items.
Forge Guard and Druid are the weakest masteries in Season 3. While still viable with perfect gear, they require much more investment to perform well compared to other options.
Primal Hunt is a new endgame system where you hunt Rift Beasts through mysterious rifts. You evolve their lineages by choosing different hatchlings, which influences the rewards you receive. It’s the primary way to obtain Primordial Items.
Erasing Strike Void Knight is unmatched for pure boss damage. It can one-shot bosses with proper setup, though it’s slower for general farming. Bear Beastmaster is also excellent for bossing while being much safer.
Season 3 significantly shifted the meta with Void Knight and Beastmaster rising to the top. Minion builds received massive buffs, while some previously dominant builds like Tornado Shaman and Heartseeker Marksman were nerfed.
Warpath Void Knight remains the fastest farming build with incredible clear speed through monoliths. Ballista Falconer is also excellent for safe, efficient farming.
Last Epoch Season 3 has brought some of the most significant changes we’ve seen, with Void Knight and Beastmaster clearly dominating the current meta. However, what makes this season special is the incredible diversity of viable builds – even B-tier masteries can perform exceptionally well with the right gear and playstyle.
The new Primal Hunt system and Primordial Items add exciting layers of depth to endgame progression, giving players more goals to work toward beyond just reaching high corruption. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or new to Last Epoch, there’s never been a better time to jump into the world of Eterra.
Remember that tier lists are subjective and based on general performance. The best build is ultimately the one you enjoy playing the most. Use this guide as a starting point, but don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works best for your playstyle.
Happy hunting in the Ancient Era, and may your Rift Beasts drop plenty of Primordial Items!
